What we collect
We collect the data you provide in the comments form, your IP address, and browser user agent string when you leave comments. This helps us detect spam.
If you use Gravatar, we may provide an anonymized string (hash) of your email address to their service. You can find Gravatar’s privacy policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once we approve your comment, the public can see your profile picture alongside your comment.
Media
We recommend you avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website, unless that’s what you want.
Cookies
If you opt-in, we’ll save your name, email address, and website in cookies when you comment. This saves you from re-entering your details for future comments. These cookies last for one year.
We set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies when you visit our login page. This cookie contains no personal data and disappears when you close your browser.
When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie in your browser. This cookie only indicates the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day.

How long we retain your data
We retain comments and their metadata indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
For registered users, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except usernames). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your rights over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This doesn’t include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
