For me today started with some bad news. One of my youth idols, Henny Vrienten, from Dutch ska band Doe Maar, passed away at the age of 73.
I’m sure it seems this has nothing to do with the Company of Shadows production. However, it goes to show that sometimes as a director you need to stop the urge to read the news. Well, I actually tried. But for Gen-X member who grew up in the Netherlands, this kind of news is inescapable. I will try to not let it affect me today or during the shoot.
Turn off your bloody phones on film shoots.
